SEASON V
Hilton Head 3v3/6v6 by the Sea (Winter) (3v3 & 6v6 HS/U15-17)TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LOW NUMBERS
The World Futbol Tour is proud to announce the Hilton Head 3v3/6v6 by the Sea on January 11, 2014 hosted by the Lowcountry Soccer and the Island Recreation Center. This 1-day event is a qualifier for the WFT World Cup V to be held on July 25-27, 2014 in Charleston, SC. Teams playing in their first WFT event of
the season will also become eligible to enter their State Champions Cup
or the nearest one geographically.
The Players' Tour The WFT prides itself on being the
“Players’ Tour”, where youth players have complete freedom
of futbol expression during match play. Similar to pickup or street soccer game,
there will be NO adults telling the players what to do or how to do
it. This may be initially challenging for our younger participants (particularly those who have been given few opportunities to play or think for themselves); however, when they start to figure out the game, the results will be tremendous. For the players that relish the opportunity to play pickup soccer, but are often not given the opportunity, our brand of the 3v3 game will be pure fun.
Season V News:
6v6 The
WFT is committed to growing its 6v6 game for HS (U15-17) and Adults
(18-50+) and in so doing, the WFT is opening up its 6v6 State and World
Cups to any teams. This means that teams may register without having
played in a previous WFT event. Teams entering a WFT 6v6 State Cup must
enter the event in the state where the team resides (or the nearest one
geographically if their state does host a state cup.
3v3 Last
year, the WFT made big strides with its No Coaching Rule thanks to the
efforts of the parents and coaches to restrain themselves from directing
the players on the field. There were, however, abuses of the rule in
the U6-10 divisions where coaches were allowed to communicate with
players when the ball was out of play. Too often, players in the U9/U10
ages who possessed cognitive abilities to make decisions were constantly
told what to do each time the ball left the field. The WFT is,
therefore making minor adjustments to the rule by lowering the age to
U6-U8 and only allowing coaches to guide their players when the ball
leaves the end-line for a goal kick or after a goal is scored.

event so that we can maintain a positive environment for the players.
Thank you, WFT Staff
