    Omar Gallo

    Omar Gallo has completed his 4th year in charge of the women’s soccer program. No stranger to the Saints’ sidelines, coach Gallo has been the head men’s coach for the past ten seasons. Before the 2018 season, he was named Holy Cross College Director of Soccer Operations when he took over both programs. Under coach Gallo, the women’s soccer program is 32-29-6 overall and 21-23-2 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Coach Gallo has recently completed the UEFA B license. He is currently working on his UEFA A license with the Northern Ireland Federation.


    The Saints finished their 2018 season with a 3-12-1 overall record in Coach Gallo’s first season at the helm. In his second season, which was Coach Gallo’s first recruiting class, Holy Cross finished with a program-best 9-8-1 record and broke history with a 6-6-1 conference record and earned a trip to the CCAC post-season tournament. Coach Gallo has also recruited the program’s first CCAC All-Conference First Team award winner in Olivia Shaw.


    In his third season, coach Gallo was named CCAC Co-Coach of the Year, when he guided the Saints to a 9-4-1 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the CCAC. Holy Cross entered the CCAC post season tournament as the No. 3 seed and hosted the opening round matchup. After defeating Trinity International University at home, the Saints fell to the No.2 seeded Cardinal Stritch University in a shootout.


    In coach Gallo’s fourth season, the program continued to achieve new heights. The Saints concluded the season with a program best 11-5-3 overall record and 8-4-1 CCAC for 25 points which is also a program record. The Saints set program records for most goals in a season and least amount of goals in a season, including a remarkable mark of 11 shutouts in 18 games. After earning their third straight bid to the conference tournament the Saints came up short in a shootout to No. 3 seeded Trinity Christian. In Gallo’s fourth season, the Saints also set a new program record for most all-conference recipients in a season (4).


    Under coach Gallo, the Saints have had nine CCAC All-Conference players, including three time First-Team recipient Olivia Shaw.


    In addition to coaching the Saints, coach Gallo serves as the Director of Coaching for the Michiana Echo Youth Soccer Club. He holds an UEFA B license, NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Level 3 Goalkeeping Diploma, and U.S. Soccer National D Coaching License. He is currently working on his UEFA A license.


    Coach Omar was born and raised In Hamilton, Ontario, Canada prior to relocating to South Bend, Indiana to be with his wife. After graduating from Cathedral High School (Hamilton, ON), he continued his education at Mohawk College (Hamilton, ON) where he earned a Degree in Police Foundations. In 2005, Coach Omar received an athletic and academic scholarship to Cape Breton University (Sydney, NS). While attending Cape Breton, he served as the men's soccer team captain, and helped capture the team's first Atlantic University Conference Championship and the team’s first National Tournament Appearance. Throughout his career Coach Omar was named a first team All-Star, Academic-All-Canadian, Canadian Interuniversity Male Athlete of the Week and was invited to the USL Combine. In 2008 he received a Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies Degree.


    Coach Omar resides in Granger, Ind. with his wife Belen and is the proud father of three: Solena (20), Roman (16), and Vincenzo (9).
