Toma Gojcevic

Gojcevic concluded his seventh consecutive season (ninth overall) as head coach for men’s soccer team in 2022 as Lehman finished with an 10-5-2 ledger, CUNYAC Championship title and its first berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament since 2017.


Gojcevic was also named CUNYAC Coach of Year for the second time in his tenure with the Lightning in 2021 after reaching the postseason for a fourth straight year.


In 2018, Lehman finished with a 6-10-2 record where the Lightning reached the semifinals of CUNYAC Championship.


In 2017, Gojcevic led Lehman a 13-5-1 ledger and perfect 8-0 in conference play on its way a second consecutive CUNYAC title and a berth into NCAA Tournament.


The previous year (2016), the Lightning posted their first 10-win season since 1994 as they concluded the campaign with a 10-4-3 record, while going undefeated in CUNYAC with 6-0-2 mark. Gojcevic guided Lehman to its first conference championship and a spot into NCAA Tournament.


The Lightning ended 2015 with an 8-8-1 record and reached the CUNYAC Tournament.


Gojcevic began his second tenure at the helm of Lehman in 2014 with the Lightning finishing with 5-11 ledger however still qualified to compete in CUNYAC Tournament.


Gojcevic was previously head coach of the Lightning men’s program from 1992 through 1994, when he led the team to its first-ever 10 win season.


He returned to the Bronx in 2012, and worked with the women's program for two seasons, including as the Acting Head Coach for the 2013 season.


Since his first stint at Lehman, Gojcevic has had several other coaching stops, including as the assistant coach at Division I programs Manhattan College (1995) and Fordham University (1996, 2000-02), as well as the head coaching job at SUNY Maritime College (1997-2000). During his first tour with the Rams, the team reached the NCAA Tournament, losing to eventual national champion St. John’s.


Gojcevic’s coaching has not been limited to the collegiate level, however, as he has been a fixture among youth and high school leagues, in addition to being an assistant coach with the New York Magic women’s soccer club. In 2004 Gojcevic was named the PSAL Bronx ‘A’ Coach of the Year for leading Evander Childs High School to a 13-1 overall record, and was twice named the North County News Coach of the Year (2005 and 2009). He has also held the position of head coach for several local area club teams, including the FC Lewisboro U15-U17 girls team, which was a 2002 Girls State Cup Finalist.


A graduate of NCAA Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he was a scholarship player, Gojcevic advanced to play professionally in the American Soccer League for three separate teams – the Albany Capitals, New Jersey Eagles and Connecticut Wolves, where he was team captain – from 1988 through 1994.


During part of that time he was also the head coach at Westchester Community College, where the team won three conference titles and was ranked as high as No. 14 nationally. For his efforts, Gojcevic was twice was named the NJCAA Region XV Coach of the Year (1988, 1992).


Gojcevic holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” license in addition to a Master’s Degree in Health Education. He is a New York State certified teacher in Health and Physical Education.
