Kristin Eggert

Kristin Eggert, who was named the head coach of the women's soccer program in May of 2021, came back to the Cavs following a stretch as the Montreat women’s soccer assistant coach during 2019, when she managed recruiting and all aspects of goalkeeper development. The Cavaliers made strides defensively with Eggert on staff, surrendering only 19 goals in 17 games while making the conference tournament.

With Eggert as head coach in 2021, the Cavaliers advanced to the semifinal round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament, boasting a 13-4 overall record and an 11-3 AAC campaign, the most wins since 2013 and most conference victories since at least 2004. The Cavs notched five all-conference awards, an AAC Player of the Week honor and a program-best MRPI ranking (22nd).

Prior to her assistance in North Carolina, Eggert was on staff at Liberty University as an assistant coach for four years. During her time with the Flames, Liberty made the NCAA Tournament twice after a pair of Big South Conference Championships. The Flames notched two regular season championships in addition to the tournament titles. With Eggert at the helm of defensive responsibilities, LU had a conference defensive player of the year winner and several all-conference awards.

Before working with Liberty, Eggert coached as an assistant with the Haitian Women’s National Team. While with the national squad, Eggert handled goalkeeper sessions, directed camps, conducted training, scouted players and evaluated team members. Over her couple of years assisting, Haiti won its group in the Caribbean Qualifiers and took third place in the Caribbean Cup.

Eggert began her collegiate coaching career at Carthage College as an assistant coach in 2012. Following their highest conference finish in five seasons, the Firebirds advanced to the league championship game and registered a 13-5-1 (5-2 CCIW) record in 2013 with Eggert assisting.

Eggert coached several club teams from 2005 to 2014, also running summer camps and coaching as an assistant at Glenbard South High School. Each summer from 2017 through 2019, Eggert was the Athletes in Action Women’s Soccer Tour head coach. During the three years, she traveled to Spain, France and Portugal to head the endeavors.

The Glen Ellyn (Ill.) native’s playing career started at Wheaton College in her home state. From 2004 to 2007, Eggert helped her team capture three NCAA Division III national championships, including back-to-back titles in ’06 and ’07. At Wheaton, Eggert was named to the championship all-tournament team twice and set the postseason record for not allowing a goal in NCAA postseason play as a goalkeeper.

Following her collegiate soccer, Eggert played professionally in Norway for two years, competing in the Toppserien, the highest level of women’s soccer in the country. As a member of Donn Toppfotball, Eggert ranked in the top five goalkeepers in the league, while starting every available match for her team.

Not only does Eggert have coaching and playing experience, but she also is well-certified and educated. In addition to holding a USSF B license and NSCAA Professional Development Certificate, Eggert has her NSCAA Premier Diploma and a United Soccer Coaches Futsal Diploma. Eggert was honored as an NSCAA 30 Under 30 Class member in 2015 out of 600 applicants and was also an NSCAA Rising Star the same year. In spring of 2022, she completed her FAW C license (the Welsh Federation) certification.

Eggert graduated cum laude from Wheaton with a BA in biblical studies in 2008 and now resides in Black Mountain.
