David Stockton

David Stockton was named the second head coach in the history of the OUAZ men's soccer program in April of 2022. Stockton was elevated to the head coach role after his third season with the program, including serving as the Associate Head Coach during the 2021 season.

Stockton was promoted to Associate Head Coach in the fall of 2021 after two seasons as the lead assistant coach of the Spirit. During his time as an assistant at OUAZ, the Spirit recorded a 36-15-3 record with a run to the final site of the NAIA National Championship and No. 10 postseason ranking.

Stockton came to OUAZ from the University of the Pacific, where he was an assistant coach with the Tigers from 2017-2019. During his time at Pacific, he was part of a coaching staff in which the Tigers compiled a 25-9-4 overall record in two seasons, reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament each year. Before that time at Pacific, Stockton spent six seasons as an assistant at California State University Monterey Bay. He helped coach the Otters to an 11-5-3 record in his third year, including four shutout victories and the program's first top 25 national ranking.

Before CSU Monterey Bay, Stockton spent three seasons with Missouri State University. He was involved in all facets of the program on and off the field, specializing in developing the goalkeepers. In 2009, Missouri State captured the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championship and an NCAA tournament bid, marking the first time for the program in 10 years for both achievements. Stockton also worked with Missouri State's women's soccer program as the goalkeeper coach, helping the program finish in 2nd place in the MVC in 2009 and 2010.

His coaching career began at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 2005, Stockton spent the season coaching the Mustang goalkeepers to a 13-3-2 record and served as a graduate assistant the next two years when Midwestern State went 36-5-4 over a two-year stretch and advanced to the NCAA DII national semifinals in 2007.

Stockton enjoyed a four-year playing career in goal at Midwestern State, leading his team to the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals twice, as he and his teammates posted a 51-17-6 in four seasons. He was named All-Midwest Region first-team goalkeeper as a senior and earned the MWSU Soccer Alumni Award for Leadership and Integrity in 2004.

Stockton played professionally in the Pacific Coast Soccer League and Premier Development League and was named to the PCSL All-Star team in 2004. He spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons with the DFW Tornados of the PDL. Stockton has earned his United States Soccer Federation "B" Coaching License and Masters of Arts in Leadership through Ottawa University.

Stockton has been married to his wife, Shannon, since 2018, and they have a son, Zachary.
