John Haworth

John Haworth enters his first year at the helm of the men's soccer program for the 2022-23 season.

Before SCAD, Haworth returned to the Embry-Riddle men's soccer coaching staff in the summer of 2008 after spending four seasons as the head coach at Sun Conference foe Webber International. 2021 was his 18th season on the Embry-Riddle staff, as he was an assistant from 2002-2004.

In his four seasons at the helm of the Webber International program, Haworth guided the Warriors to two top-three finishes in the FSC (now The Sun Conference) and a Final Four appearance at the NAIA National Tournament in 2006. Named the league's Coach of the Year in 2007, Haworth's record as a head coach stands at 40-30-1, including a program-best 14-5 mark in 2006.

Haworth began his playing career at Embry-Riddle in 1997, when he joined the squad as a goalkeeper. During his freshman year, he started in 16 games as the Eagles' net minder and allowed only 28 goals on the season. His 1.82 goals against average that season ranked him second on the Eagles' single-season list in that category. Haworth's prowess between the posts was not the only asset to the team, however, as he was asked to transition from guarding the nets to joining the attack. In his debut as a forward, he scored a hat trick against Covenant College, thus solidifying his spot on the roster as a field player.

His sophomore campaign was a success, but a series of injuries blighted the remainder of his career. Haworth was forced to sit out the 1999 season to recover from a knee injury and was still plagued by that injury the following year. His senior campaign looked promising as he returned fitter and more determined than ever. But his hopes were dashed when he sustained a broken leg in his first appearance of the season, which sidelined him for the remainder of the year.

While his playing time was limited, Haworth's dedication to the program and support of his teammates never waned. It is this enthusiasm that makes him an asset to the coaching staff. He brings a wealth of knowledge of the program's inner workings to the table, as well as a strong rapport with squad members.

Haworth earned his UEFA B License in the summer of 2018 and is currently working on his UEFA A License. He earned his Premier License from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2016 and is also an NSCAA Associate Staff Coach.

Haworth graduated from Embry-Riddle in Spring 2002 with a degree in Communications and a minor in Business. He completed his master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management at Webber International in 2004.
