Ian Wright Memorial Piedmont Shootout | | | | | Washington College is an academically ambitious liberal arts and sciences college in Chestertown, Maryland. We are an easy drive to several major cities (Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Annapolis, Philadelphia) and beaches, but our campus is in an historic and beautiful Chesapeake Bay community located on the scenic Chester River.
Founded in 1782, WC is the tenth oldest college in North America. It was the first college established after the Revolutionary War and George Washington himself was one of the founders of the college. The campus is dripping with history. That historical feel is complimented with many state of the art academic centers, residence halls, dining options and beautiful athletic facilities.
In addition to the beauty of our cozy campus, we have waterfront facilities that make us quite unique. The Chester River and Chesapeake Bay are integral parts of the Washington College personality.

WC offers over 40 majors and academic programs. In addition to the standard liberal arts offerings, there are unique programs in environmental sciences, engineering, pre-law, pre-med and Earth and Planetary Sciences.

All academic programs are delivered with the very small student-to-faculty ratio of 12-1. This ensures that all students get the close attention from professors that allows learning to take flight.
We compete in the Centennial Conference, which is widely regarded as one of the top D3 athletic conferences in the country. In 2014, we placed three teams in the NCAA D3 Men’s Soccer Tournament. Only two other conferences in the country had as many teams in the tournament and you already read about our strength of schedule.

We have no football team so soccer is the only men’s fall sport competing in Kirby Stadium. We practice and play on Kibler Field, which is equipped with field turf and measures a spacious 75x120 yards. We also have Bermuda grass practice facilities. The stadium contains skyboxes that are complimentary to parents and family members during games and tailgate events.

Our student fitness center has received a major renovation and doubled in size within the last two years. We have a full-time strength and conditioning coach who is a former WC soccer player and coach. He is thoroughly tuned-in to the physical demands of the game and the needs of our team. |
